Hansford County Circle of Friends' Party Scheduled for September 13
The Hansford County Circle of Friends will host a membership party in support of The Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center on September 13, 2008 at 7:00 PM. The party will be held at the O'Loughlin Center at 502 South Brandt in Spearman, Texas. Come and join us for a great time for a great cause. The cost is $20/single and $35/couple.

I know that relapse is part of recovery from a methamphetamine addiction. I know that for two and a half to four years the relapse rate is higher than with any other drug. I know all of that; but I’m sick of it. I’m sick of families just beginning to have a glimmer of hope – just to have it be stolen away from them a year or two into their loved one’s sobriety. I’m sick of seeing people go to the pen time and time again because they can’t get and stay clean. I’m sick of hearing the pain in their family’s voices as they tell me about their hopes for their child or spouse being crushed yet again. Cost: Public Meal $5.00 starting at 6:00pm
Ribs; $20.00 (Ribs will be provided) Turn In Time, 4:00pm
Beans: $5.00 Turn In Time, 4:30pm
Side Dish: $5.00 Turn In Time, 5:00pm
Dessert: $5.00 Turn In Time, 5:30pm
Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place in each category. All proceeds to go to funding the DARE Program in Hansford County. Funding is needed for purchase of student workbooks, graduation T-shirts, and other items used for the graduation.
The Rib Cook Off is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend. The meal will begin at 6:00pm. A meeting for the rib cookers will be at 10:00am in the county barn. If you’re not competing in the competition bring your favorite dish and come have fun while supporting the youth of Hansford County. Door prizes will also be given out after the meal. It is that time of year again. The Gruver FFA will be holding their first fundraiser of the year and it will be starting September 4, 2008. The fundraiser will include the following products: spiral sliced ham, pecan cobbler, hunter’s pack, peppered turkey breast, smoked turkey, country smoked ham, smoked sausage links, little porkies, cinnamon bread, pork breakfast patties, sliced peppered bacon, smoked sliced bacon, chicken tenders, chopped bar b que, chicken fajitas, beef fajitas, and tamales.
